Slope & Gradient Calculation
Calculate slope, gradient, percentage grade, vertical angle, rise/fall and elevation differences for surveying and engineering work.
Slope Between Two Survey Points
Enter the horizontal distance and the elevations of two points. The calculator determines the signed rise/fall and slope in several common surveying formats.
Point A
Point B
Use horizontal distance, not slope distance, when calculating survey grade from elevation difference.
Elevation Difference & Distance
Calculate the required rise/fall, slope, gradient or distance from any two known quantities.
Known Values
Calculation Mode
Enter the two values required by the selected mode. The calculator will derive the missing value and then report the complete slope description.
Profile / Chainage Slope Analysis
Enter sequential chainages and reduced levels. The calculator calculates each segment's distance, rise/fall, gradient and grade.
| Point | Chainage | Elevation / RL | Remove |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | |||
| 2 | |||
| 3 |
Chainage must increase from one point to the next. Elevations/RLs should use the same vertical datum throughout the profile.
Slope & gradient reference
A positive grade indicates a rise from the first point to the second; a negative grade indicates a fall. Gradient is displayed as a positive ratio such as 1:20, while direction is reported separately.
